BEGINNERS YOGA - WEEK FIVE - EMOTIONAL

Everything is connected our thoughts, our emotions, our physical and energetic bodies with each impacting the other. Dr Candace Pert’s  Nobel Prize nominated research described how emotions affect our bodies at cellular level. Her studys found that even if a condition heals it may reappear if the memory or emotion of the trauma is retained in the cells. The word emotion comes from the latin word emovere which means to move out or move through. E motions are not meant to stagnate and fester they are meant to move. Have you ever experienced a deep sense of relief after  a difficult conversation like you’ve got something off your chest. That’s emotion moving being released through expression.

During yoga we begin to unravel muscular tension and this process can also release the associated emotions bound to the muscles. Lets dive in to our emotions this evening.                         

Sometimes we think being strong means not giving in to our emotions but real power comes from being vulnerable enough to feel whatever it is we are feeling. If we pay attention to the process              we will see each step of the way, feeling, accepting and releasing. When we can see all of our emotions as vital tools providing us with hidden messages we can allow them to flow freely like water.

Water like emotion is soft and flowing but can wear down boulders and mountains. So watch the pounding surf, watch the waves lap against the shore, their beginnings somewhere far out at sea. Know your oneness  with these waves. Your emotions are like the surf let them pound. Let them pass through. Let them subside, let them turn into the next wave. Visualise your emotions washing over you like the waves of the sea, Breathing in …..wave rises, breathing out …….     wave falls, breathing in emotion rises, breathing out emotions falls, breathing in, breathing out, letting go.
