Just as everyone has a unique fingerprint, each person has a particular pattern of energy known as our Prakruti (constitution). Our constitution can then be described as our natural balanced state from birth. Many factors throughout life disturb this balance including diet, stress, emotional trauma, insufficient or excessive exercise, too much or too little sleep, weather, environment leading to alterations in the body’s inner ecology and ultimately leading to disease.
Ayurveda, a traditional natural healing system of medicine originating in India more than 5000 years ago places great emphasis on prevention of disease and encourages the maintenance of health through paying close attention to balance in one’s life. Both prevention and healing can be carried out by entirely natural means. Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing in the truest sense. As a science of self-healing, Ayurveda encompasses diet and nutrition, lifestyle, exercise, rest & relaxation, meditation, massage, breathing exercises and medicinal herbs along with cleansing and rejuvenation programs for healing body, mind & spirit.
I will be opening my books to accept just 10 clients into my new well-being programme which will extend for an initial period of 3 months. This time frame allows for healing to occur through the process of 3 monthly cycles. Within this programme I will address any imbalances and go to work with you to help restore balance through Ayurvedic Nutrition & Lifestyle Consultations, oleation (the application of medicated Ayurvedic oils by way of Ayurvedic massage), sound therapy, breathing techniques, yoga & meditation .
Ayurveda is not a passive form of therapy but rather asks each individual to take responsibility for his or her own daily living under the guidance and assistance of a practitioner.
The package will include:
- Initial application form. Once you have been accepted into the programme you will follow up with a further form retrieving in depth information to help assist with our journey.
- There will be an initial one hour in person consultation and monthly ½ hour follow up appointments.
- Each month you will receive an hour treatment or two ½ hr treatments in either massage or tuning fork sound therapy (treatment choices and oils will be based on your dosha (fault or imbalance).
- You will receive access to recorded breathwork practices and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) to assist with balancing energy and allowing for better rest.
- You will get access to one live or zoom yoga session per week throughout the package. The style of yoga recommended will again be based on your individual requirements.
- Access to a library of recipe books to help you with meal planning.
- Access to a closed group where you will receive helpful tips and reminders to keep you on track over the 3 month period.

I decided it was time I took a different approach to some health issues.
I have quite a large fibroid which I was told I should just have a hysterectomy, not an option that I fancied, major surgery and 3 month off work! Next option, perhaps put me into the false menopause for 6 months, give me a synthetic HRT, hopefully shrink it and then remove it…( a biopsy was done to check it wasn’t cancerous) thankfully it wasn’t. . I don’t like playing about with my hormones and HRT shouldn’t be an option for me as there is a history of breast cancer in my family. I asked if there was anything I could change in my diet, I’m sure you can guess the answer. They said fibroids is an increase in oestrogen so my hormones are probably out of balance, it would explain the internal combustion that would happen, my face would feel on fire at times. My periods were painful and extremely heavy, to the point that I would quite often spend at least a day at home.
So I had read on Susans website about Ayurvedic Medicine and was curious, I booked a consultation! We spoke about all of the above and other things had came up in the consultation, ganglions, one on my right wrist which was quite large as well as a smaller one on the side of my left hand.
We’re now 8 weeks on and I’ve had no internal combustion, my face has not been on fire once, my periods have greatly improved, much more controlled and the ganglion on my right wrist has shrunk dramatically, it’s no longer as visible as it was, in fact you can hardly notice it at all and the one on my right hand has completely gone.

“ I came to Susan for help after a year of suffering from prolonged menstrual bleeding, and severe period and ovulation cramps, sometimes needing to take painkillers daily for up to two weeks. A short cycle of 21-24 days meant that I was in pain for about 2/3 of my life! I had been using the copper coil and was also prescribed a birth control pill by my doctor to see if it would help things “settle”; it only made it worse! I then made the decision to get back to basics and look for a more natural remedy.
A friendly, 60-minute consultation with Susan established that I was generating too much heat in my body, mostly as a result of my diet, which was contributing to my symptoms. Susan provided easy-to-follow instructions on which foods to stick to and which to avoid, gave me some super tasty recipes to try, and prescribed some Ayurvedic herbs to help bring me into balance.
I’m now two months in, and so far, combined with having gotten rid of all forms of contraception, I’ve gone from bleeding for 9 days to just 3 or 4, and I haven’t taken a painkiller since! It’s made such a difference to my mental health, as I am no longer in near-constant pain, I don’t have that feeling of “is this ever going to end?”, and I no longer dread my periods. I had been suffering from pre-menopausal symptoms, hot flushes, tiredness, aching bones and arthritis.
I arranged a consultation with Susan as I needed to look at an alternative solution.We ran through lots of questions, which Susan identified as triggers to my issues. Susan put together a nutrition & diet plan, diet sheet, highlighting all the foods I should avoid, herbal supplements and meal suggestions.
After following the plan for a few weeks, truth: the herbs did take a bit of getting used too, I definitely felt a big improvement in the reduction of hot flushes ,my mood was also better and I wasn’t as tired. My arthritis is also not as painful, getting out of bed first thing in the morning is now much easier. Of the foods I now avoid, I understand the negative effect they have on me, I really don’t miss them, as I feel much better in myself.

In May 2019 I asked Susan for some advice with managing my osteoarthritis in my knees and right hip. I was regularly taking ibuprofen to manage the pain. We had a zoom consultation and then Susan developed a plan for me. I followed it closely and after a week the whites of my eyes were incredibly white; my brain function was improved and I was full of energy and zing! It was incredible! After three months the pain in my joints had virtually disappeared and I just felt on top of the world.

“I had been suffering from chronic pain in my body for around 2 years which was progressively getting worse. I also had what I can only describe as chronic fatigue, I was so exhausted by the afternoon that I was having to sleep and I was also struggling to come off antidepressants. I had tried everything, had blood tests and was facing the possibility of trying HRT for early menopause symptoms. I had tried various diets and exercise but nothing was working and I had terrible brain fog, which made every day a struggle. I just felt I was functioning at my lowest level. I decided I had nothing to loose with trying Ayurveda and had a consultation of around an hour with Susan and she sent me over a diet plan and a recommendation of herbs to take.
The first couple of days I felt a little overwhelmed but soon got into a routine of taking the herbs and made the adjustments to my diet which Susan had recommended. Within a week the pain in my body was greatly reduced and I was able to get out of bed in the morning, when I woke, with a clearer head and just by sitting up, instead of having to edge myself into a comfortable position. Within 3 weeks I was completely off antidepressants and able to run around with my children and focus on what I needed to, right through the day with no energy slumps! I had been advised by susan only to take gentle exercises for the first 3 weeks which I did, now almost 5 weeks in I am regular swimming in the sea, cycling and practicing yoga and still have the energy to be the mum I want to be and get stuff done.
